The literate and non-literate subject in Central do Brasil: scenes of orality and literacy

Resumo: Central Brazil, the 1998, brazilian film winner Walter Salles, brings the illustrious Brazil and its social and ideological implications to the lenses of the big screen - the cinema - the 3 x 4 portrait of an illiterate Brazil and its social and ideological implications. From this point of view, this bibliographic study, of a qualitative nature, aims to reflect on the presence of social literacy practices, built through the discourse of literate subjects, although not literate, portrayed in the film. The analysis demonstrates that the processes of reading, writing and orality are inseparable instances in today's literate society, built on the aegis of grafocentrism, that is, increasingly focused on reading and writing, with meaning and significance in their interaction territories social.

Por esta óptica, este estudio bibliográfico, de naturaleza cualitativa, tiene por objetivo reflexionar sobre la presencia de prácticas de letra social, construidas a través del discurso de los sujetos letrados, aunque no alfabetizados, retratados en la película. El análisis demuestra que los procesos de lectura, escritura y oralidad son instancias indisociables en la sociedad letrada actual, construida sobre la égida del grafocentrismo, o sea, cada vez más centrada en la lectura y la escritura, con significado y significancia en sus territorios de interacción social.Central do Brasil, premiado filme brasileiro, de 1998, do cineasta Walter Salles, traz, pelas lentes da grande tela – o cinema – o retrato 3 X 4 de um Brasil analfabeto e suas implicações sociais e ideológicas. Por essa ótica, este estudo bibliográfico, de natureza qualitativa, tem por objetivo refletir sobre a presença de práticas de letramento social, construídas através do discurso dos sujeitos letrados, embora não alfabetizados, retratados no filme.
