Impact of COVID-19 on healthcare graduation courses: students and professors’ perspective

Resumo: | Objective: To evaluate the positioning, concerns and difficulties of students and professors of higher education courses in the field of health in relation to distance learning during the coronavirus pandemic. Methods: Through WhatsApp Messenger, an anonymous questionnaire of google forms was sent to students and professors of higher education in health courses. The questions were about personal information, feelings about the coronavirus pandemic, distance learning and how quarantine could affect higher education courses. The level of anxiety/stress with the pandemic and the level of concern about the impact of the pandemic in higher education were compared between men and women with independent t test. Results: 704 students and 104 professors answered the questionnaire, with an average age of 23.09 years and 39.41 years, respectively. The students' average level of anxiety/stress was 6.18. Women were significantly more anxious than men. Most students agreed to use distance learning. Both students and professors were concerned with the reduction in clinical and professional learning and with the way of teaching evaluation. The average level of concern related to the impact of the pandemic on higher education was 8.27 for students and 7.34 for professors. Conclusion: Students and professors were very concerned about the impact of the pandemic on learning and higher education, and felt that practical learning and professional and clinical training were hampered by the social isolation determined during the pandemic. |

Métodos: Vía WhatsApp Messenger se envió un cuestionario anónimo de formularios google a estudiantes y docentes de educación superior en cursos de salud. Las preguntas fueron sobre información personal, sentimientos sobre la pandemia de coronavirus, aprendizaje a distancia y cómo la cuarentena podría afectar los cursos de educación superior. Se comparó el nivel de ansiedad/estrés sobre la pandemia y el nivel de preocupación sobre el impacto de la pandemia en la educación superior entre hombres y mujeres con la prueba t independiente. Resultados: respondieron el cuestionario 704 estudiantes y 104 docentes, con una edad promedio de 23,09 y 39,41 años, respectivamente. El nivel medio de ansiedad/estrés de los estudiantes fue de 6,18. Las mujeres estaban significativamente más ansiosas que los hombres. La mayoría de los estudiantes aceptaron utilizar la educación a distancia. Tanto los alumnos como profesores se preocuparon por la reducción del aprendizaje clínico y profesional y por la forma de evaluación de la enseñanza. El nivel promedio de preocupación relacionado con el impacto de la pandemia en la educación superior fue de 8.27 para los estudiantes y 7.34 para los docentes. Conclusión: Estudiantes y docentes estaban muy preocupados por el impacto de la pandemia en el aprendizaje y la educación superior, y encontraron que el aprendizaje práctico y la formación profesional y clínica se vieron perjudicados por el aislamiento social determinado durante la pandemia.Objetivo: Avaliar o posicionamento, preocupações e dificuldades dos estudantes e professores de cursos superiores de área da saúde em relação ao ensino à distância durante a pandemia de coronavírus. Métodos: Pelo WhatsApp Messenger, foi enviado um questionário anônimo do google forms para estudantes e professores do ensino superior de cursos da área da saúde. As perguntas foram sobre informações pessoais, sentimentos em relação à pandemia de coronavírus, ensino a distância e como a quarentena poderia afetar os cursos de ensino superior. O nível de ansiedade/estresse com a pandemia e o nível de preocupação com o impacto da pandemia no ensino superior foram comparados entre homens e mulheres com teste t independente. Resultados: 704 estudantes e 104 professores responderam ao questionário, com idade média de 23,09 anos e 39,41 anos, respectivamente. O nível médio de ansiedade/estresse dos estudantes foi de 6,18. As mulheres estavam significativamente mais ansiosas que os homens. A maioria dos estudantes concordou com a utilização do ensino a distância. Ambos alunos e professores estavam preocupados com a redução no aprendizado da parte clínica e profissional e com a forma de avaliação do ensino. O nível médio de preocupação relacionado ao impacto da pandemia no ensino superior foi 8,27 para os alunos e 7,34 para docentes. Conclusão: Alunos e professores estavam muito preocupados com o impacto da pandemia no aprendizado e na educação superior, e acharam que o aprendizado prático e o treinamento profissional e clínico estavam prejudicados por conta do isolamento social determinado durante a pandemia.
