Resumo: The growth in the rates of improvement in the development of children, through breastfeeding, only increased the discussions in terms of health and quality of life, both for the pregnant woman and for the newborn. Therefore, the objective of the research is to present information in the scientific scenario and that, mainly, meet the expectations of clarification for pregnant women, as well as for the medical community. The research methodology was bibliographic research, through the search of articles published in Scielo, Pubmed, as well as the analysis of scientific articles published in the available databases. The research identifies the need for health professionals to focus on the practice of guidance during consultations, so that the pregnant woman feels comfortable and confident in the act of breastfeeding. It was identified that the practice of breastfeeding requires care before and after delivery. It was found that this care involves, from raising awareness of the mother about the importance of breastfeeding, moving towards the preparation and stimulation of milk production, to the act itself. It is concluded, therefore, that breast milk is the only food that has all the nutrients necessary for the health of the newborn, capable of preventing serious cases of infections and allergies, due to the presence of antibodies and hormones essential for growth. of the baby. As for the health of the mother, breastfeeding can promote rapid postpartum recovery, increase the emotional bond between mother and baby and even prevent breast cancer.

As for the health of the mother, breastfeeding can promote rapid postpartum recovery, increase the emotional bond between mother and baby and even prevent breast cancer. Research, Society and Development2022-09-10info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/3308010.33448/rsd-v11i12.33080Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 No. 12; e03111233080Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 Núm. 12; e03111233080Research, Society and Development; v. 11 n. 12; e031112330802525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/33080/28932Copyright (c) 2022 Patricia Mendonça Cavaglieri; Karine Paula Balduinohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCavaglieri, Patricia MendonçaBalduino, Karine Paula 2022-09-26T11:56:08Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/33080Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:48:50.868845Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
