Resumo: | Storytelling is part of human life and its humanization process, as it symbolizes the relationship of man with language and its forms of representation - among them, cave paintings, grunts and speaks properly. As time went by, storytelling gained other meanings and other spaces, as the human being began to explore and occupy them. Thus, the present investigation aimed to identify which conceptions of storytelling emerged from scientific-academic works produced in the Humanities, in addition to identifying which aspects of orality underlie these conceptions. To achieve this goal, an exploratory bibliographic research and an integrative review, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, were carried out to identify the concepts of children's literature and storytelling, in the database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Personnel of Higher Level. This work considers that storytelling and children's literature are associated with a use that precedes a teaching activity, confirming its conception as being educational. These results make it possible to infer that, despite the relevance of storytelling, defended by the authors who supported this study, it is clear that there is still a marginalization of storytelling, as reading and writing are emphasized at the expense of orality. Thus, the present work contributes to the expansion of the discussion about the understanding of the space that storytelling occupies in society |

Thus, the present work contributes to the expansion of the discussion about the understanding of the space that storytelling occupies in societyA contação de histórias (CH) faz parte da vida do ser humano e do seu processo de humanização, na medida em que simboliza a relação do homem com a linguagem e suas formas de representação – entre elas, as pinturas rupestres, os grunhidos e a fala propriamente ditos.
