VERGE OF ADOLESCENCE: life purpose in youth and adult education

Resumo: This study aimed to investigate adolescents' life purpose in Youth and Adult Education. Sixteen adolescents between 15 and 18 years old, students from a low socioeconomic level region of Campinas, SP, participated in the study. The instruments used were: Sociodemographic Data Interview and a Semi-structured Interview on Life Purposes. Data were analyzed through content analysis using the open categorization model. The following categories were listed: Work, Material Goods, Affective Relationships, Recognition and Autonomy, Helping Others, and Study. It was observed that most teenagers' life purposes aim to gain a job, financial stability, acquire goods, and access essential services. In addition, it was observed that adolescents build their life purpose to help their families of origin and their communities to make better and more dignified life. This study draws attention to the importance of working with life purpose as a possible emancipating and transforming tool for the reality of these subjects and their families.

Participaron del estudio 16 adolescentes entre 15 y 18 años, estudiantes de una región de bajo nivel socioeconómico de Campinas, SP. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: Entrevista de Datos Sociodemográficos y Entrevista Semiestructurada sobre Proyectos de Vida. Los datos fueron analizados a través del análisis de contenido, utilizando el modelo de categorización abierta. Se enumeraron las siguientes categorías: Trabajo, Bienes materiales, Relación afectiva, Reconocimiento y autonomía, Ayuda a los demás y Estudio. Se observó que la mayoría de los proyectos de vida de los adolescentes tienen como objetivo la obtención de un empleo, la estabilidad financiera, la adquisición de bienes y el acceso a los servicios básicos. Además, se observó que los adolescentes construyen sus proyectos de vida con el objetivo de ayudar a sus familias de origen y a sus comunidades a construir una vida mejor y más digna. Este estudio llama la atención sobre la importancia del trabajo con proyectos de vida como posible herramienta emancipadora y transformadora de la realidad de estos sujetos y sus familias.Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar os projetos de vida de adolescentes da Educação de Jovens e Adultos. Participaram do estudo 16 adolescentes de 15 a 18 anos estudantes de uma região de nível socioeconômico baixo de Campinas, SP. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: Entrevista de Dados Sociodemográficos e Entrevista Semiestruturada sobre Projetos de Vida. Os dados foram analisados por meio de análise de conteúdo, utilizando o modelo aberto de categorização. Foram elencadas as seguintes categorias: Trabalho, Bens Materiais, Relacionamento Afetivo, Reconhecimento e Autonomia, Ajuda a Outrem e Estudo. Observou-se que a maior parte dos projetos de vida dos adolescentes objetiva conquista de um trabalho, estabilidade financeira, aquisição de bens e acesso a serviços básicos. Além disso, observou-se que os adolescentes constroem seus projetos de vida com o objetivo de ajudar suas famílias de origem e suas comunidades a construírem uma vida melhor e mais digna.
