A BRIEF HISTORICAL SURVEY AND ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN THEORIES IN DISTANCE EDUCATION

Resumo: This article makes an historical analysis of the main theoric schools that approach the phenomenon of long-distance education. The theories of distance education were examined in terms of their assumptions and their relations. They were also presented and analyzed in their central theme and related to the another theories which their authors searched for basis. We also present here analysis about these theories and possible confirmation of the assumptions and relations already described. Finally, we conclude by describing the study that comproves experimentally one of the analyzed theories: a Theory of Transactional Distance from Michael Moore and relate this confirmation with the proposals of Kuhn and Popper for the recognition of a scientific theory.

As teorias de educação a distância foram examinadas em termos de seus pressupostos e de suas relações, além de descritas e analisadas em sua temática central e relacionadas a outras teorias, nas quais seus autores buscaram bases. Apresentamos aqui, também, análises de estudiosos sobre as teorias descritas e as possíveis confirmações dos pressupostos e relações já descritos.
