Resumo: The mitical thought doesn‟t opposite the nature over the man dominance, but it takes theindigenous comunities into an equilibrated relation with the environment. The goal ofthis paper is to take in discussion about mitical narratives elaborated by an indigenousMaxakali comunity, in the Northeast of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. We perceive that theindigenous explain their knowledge by the mitical thought to respond to the universalinquiries. We understand that the social relations are reflected in the mitical simbology,so some mitical narratives are registraded in books and others conserved in the speach.The Maxakali world visions, presented in the form of simbols in the mitical narratives,are consequently detected in the grupal social relations and also within the man and thenature.

O objetivo deste artigo é trazer uma abordagem sobre as narrativas míticas elaboradas em uma comunidade indigena Maxakali, no nordeste do Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Entendemos que os indígenas expõem seu conhecimento pelo pensamento mítico para responder aos questionamentos universais. Compreendemos que as relações sociais aparecem refletidas nas simbologias dos mitos, sendo que algumas narrativas miticas são registradas em livros e outras encontram-se ainda conservadas na oralidade.
