This monograph presents a study about the perspectives of the future of the young from Projeto Jaíba, located in the municipality of Mocambinho. Thismonograph was intended to analyse the relevant aspects of the new generations’ way of life, the repercussion of the rural exodus process, especially between women, and the consequent masculinization of the youth, since the rural life does not offer neither attractions nor surviving conditions concerning the interviewers. A total of 31 young people, living in different areas of the Project, were surveyed, individually, through a pre-elaborated questionaire, in which, opinion and information were collected. The data show that young people with a low level of education and income still live with their families; a lot of them have life projects related to areas not connected to agriculture. That fact shows a weak expectation concerning life in the countryside and a deep dissatisfaction toward the reality of life in the rural areas, and it can compromise the future of the youngs from Projeto Jaíba.
