Resumo: A cirurgia de terceiros molares inclusos é uma das mais frequentesentre cirurgiões bucomaxilofaciais, entretanto, algumas complicaçõespós-cirúrgicas como trismo, infecções, edema, alveolites, comunicaçõesbuco sinusais, fratura de mandíbula ou da tuberosidadeda maxila e parestesia podem ocorrer devido a um mau planejamento,falta de conhecimento do cirurgião, técnicas e instrumentaisinadequados, falta de atenção em exames radiográficosentre outros. O objetivo do trabalho é levantar as principais complicaçõespós-cirúrgicas relacionadas à exodontia reportando apossível causa, como evitá-la e seu tratamento. O conhecimento dooperador, assim como um bom planejamento para a realização daexodontia são fatores que contribuem para a diminuição de possíveiscomplicações.
