Resumo: A mordida aberta anterior é um tema complexo entre osortodontistas, um diagnóstico preciso é de fundamentalimportância para um tratamento resolutivo. O tratamentoda mordida aberta anterior por meio de aparelho removívelcom grade palatina tem se mostrado eficiente, desdeque se elimine os fatores etiológicos. Neste caso clínico, pacientede 5 anos de idade, gênero feminino, dentição decídua,compareceu à clínica odontológica da Uningá, queixando-se que a “boca ficava aberta”. Após anamnese eexame clínico foi diagnosticada mordida aberta anterior,causada por sucção digital. O planejamento proposto foi ainstalação de aparelho removível com grade e expansorpalatino. Após seis meses de uso, o aparelho pode ser removidorestabelecendo-se a oclusão normal. Assim, é necessáriaa colaboração do paciente para utilização do aparelho,também uma interação multidisciplinar (psicólogo, fonoaudiólogo,otorrinolaringologista) em casos graves, paraque haja a mudança de hábitos e consequentemente aoclusão seja restaurada.
