Motor activity, weight status body and hours of sleep in child development

Resumo: The aim of this study was to describe and identify the possible associations between physical activity level, body weight status, sleep hours in high school students of a Federal Public School in Curitiba. A total of 139 schoolchildren, 42 female (30.2%) and 97 males (69.8%), were evaluated with a mean age of 15.4 (± 0.74). In the data collection, the electronic questionnaire Webcas was used. The application of the Webcas questionnaire was carried out in a computer room, after the ambiance with the application. The collected data was stored in a database manager system. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 20.0 for Windows, using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test. The mean age of schoolchildren was 15.4 years (± 0.74), body mass of 61.4 kg (±11.82), height of 1.71cm (±0.84), Index of Body Mass of 20.79 kg/m² (±3.39) and the average caloric expenditure of 2,055 kcal/day (±918.9). Of these, 74.8% were classified as having normal weight, 3.6% were obese and 16.5% were overweight, and 74.1% were classified as sedentary and 6.5% were not active and 62.6% were classified as having adequate sleep. There was no significant association between the level of physical activity and none of the variables analyzed. The proportion of schoolchildren classified as sedentary was high in terms of body weight status, most were classified as having low weight and normal weight, however, only two thirds were classified as normal sleep. The level of physical activity was not significantly associated with the analyzed variables.

Foram avaliados 139 escolares, 42 do sexo feminino (30,2%) e 97 do sexo masculino (69,8%), com média de idade de 15,4 (±0,74). Na coleta de dados foi utilizado o questionário eletrônico Webcas, proposto por Legnani (2015). A aplicação do questionário Webcas foi realizada numa sala de informática, após a ambientação com o aplicativo. Os dados coletados foram armazenados em um sistema gerenciador de banco de dados. A análise dos dados foi realizada através do programa SPSS versão 20.0 for Windows, utilizando a estatística descritiva e o teste do qui-quadrado (X2). A média de idade dos escolares foi de 15,4 anos (±0,74), massa corporal de 61,4 kg (±11, 82), a estatura de 1,71 cm (±0,84), o Índice de Massa Corporal de 20,79 kg/m² (±3,39) e o gasto calórico médio de 2.055 kcal/dia (±918,9). Desses, 74,8% foram classificados como tendo peso normal, 3,6% obesos e 16,5% com sobrepeso, e ainda, 74,1% foram classificados como sedentários e 6,5% pouco ativos, 62,6% foram classificados como tendo o sono adequado. Não foram observadas associação significativa entre o nível de atividade física com nenhuma das variáveis analisadas. A proporção de escolares classificados como sedentários foi elevada, quanto ao status de peso corporal, a maioria foi classificada como tendo baixo peso e peso normal, no entanto, somente dois terços foram classificados como sono normal.
