Prototipicality in entries of school dictionaries

Resumo: Theoretical Lexicography is the discipline which, in a general way, studies and criticizes the dictionaries. It is open to the theoretical contribution from other fields of research, such as Text Linguistics, Pragmatics, and Multimodality, once they may show another lexical dimension. Thus, we base our analysis on the theoretical support from Prototypes Theory, from cognitive sciences. In that sense, this paper aims to identify and describe the prototypicality in entries from the five type 3 dictionaries from the PNLD 2012 (National Plan for the Didactic Books). In order to do so, we use theories from Pontes (2008; 2009) and Geeraerts (2007). We analyze five entries, one from each dictionary type 3.

Ela se interessa em pressupostos de outros campos de estudo, como a Linguística textual, a Pragmática e a Multimodalidade, uma vez que estes podem apresentar outra dimensão do léxico. Dessa maneira, utilizamos as bases da Teoria dos Protótipos, sob a perspectiva das ciências cognitivas, para nossa análise. Nesse sentido, este trabalho objetiva identificar e descrever a prototipicidade em verbetes dos cinco dicionários escolares da lista do PNLD 2012.
