Resumo: Strategic management changes the execution of processes, the registration of indicators, the monitoring actions, the control modes, and the way of measuring results in organizations. The resources and competencies are influencers of performance. The data analysis used the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling to verify the influence of the strategic typology mediated by the competencies in the performance. The results show that there is no effect of the strategic typology adopted by small companies in the sector of jewels, semi jewels, and imitation jewelry. However, the technical, managerial, and commercial competencies have effect on the performance of this sector.

Los recursos y las competencias son influenciadores del desempeño. El análisis de los datos utilizó la Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling para verificar la influencia de la tipología estratégica mediada por las competencias en el desempeño. Los resultados muestran que no hay efecto de la tipología estratégica adoptada por las pequeñas empresas del sector de las joyas, semi-joyas y bisuterías en el desempeño. Sin embargo, las competencias técnicas, gerenciales y comerciales tienen efecto en el desempeño de ese sector.A gestão estratégica altera a execução dos processos, o registro de indicadores, as ações de monitoramento, os modos de controle e a forma de mensuração dos resultados nas organizações. Os recursos e as competências são influenciadores do desempenho. A análise dos dados utilizou a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling para verificar a influência da tipologia estratégica mediada pelas competências no desempenho. Os resultados mostram que não existe efeito da tipologia estratégica adotada pelas pequenas empresas do setor de joias, semijoias e bijuterias no desempenho.
