The direct seeder is characterized by the low mobilization of the soil during the operation, besides the use of specific machines; soon, the seeders begin to have fundamental importance in the production systems. In this light the objective of this study was to evaluate the operational cost per hectare. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications, in a 2x2 factorial scheme, with the first of furrow opening mechanisms (furrow and double disc) and the second factor by function of spacing between rows of maize (reduced line – 0.45 m and conventional – 0.90 m). The results showed a significant difference to the operating cost per hectare, and lower costs per hectare, while using the double disc hoe-type mechanism, the reduced line spacing.
