Education and access to information are rights of the entire population. Zoonoses are diseases common to humans and animals. While globalization and the media are present, there is still unmet and superficial information on the subject, as well as lack of clarity of prevention. The veterinarian is the professional who intervenes in human-animal interface, it is responsible for maintaining the health of animals, whether pets or economic interest, besides the production and quality control of foods of animal origin. The project brings key information on the occurrence of zoonoses for students from public schools. The goal is to provide the public with a basic understanding of the measures that must be taken to prevent the occurrence of diseases in animals and humans. In 2014, this project had the participation of 13 undergraduate students in veterinary medicine, two of which were awarded monthly scholarship of the Dean of Extension and five veterinarians residents of the area "Zoonoses and Public Health ". With this initiative more than 1,000 students from public schools in Botucatu - SP were able to follow the lectures on epidemiology and zoonoses prevention clearly and objectively.
