The analyzes of the hazard and natural vulnerability of aquifers constitute modern spatial planning and management tools aimed at establishing guidelines and priorities for the protection of groundwater resources. This research aimed at the estimation of the vulnerability and hazard of contamination of the Rio Claro aquifer, in order to subsidize the management of this resource. The method used to estimate the natural vulnerability of the aquifer was based on the spatialization of longitudinal conductance data obtained from existing vertical electrical sounding (VES). The estimation of contamination hazard was performed by compiling data of potential contaminant sources present in the study area, and by applying the POSH method (FOSTER et al., 2006) to classify them. The results show that the studied unit presents moderate to high hazard to groundwater contamination, being classified as an area with many restrictions to the use and occupation of the soil, mainly due to the index of high to extreme vulnerability of the aquifer
