Resumo: Modern pig farming is considered a productive activity that generates high environmental impact, presenting high polluting potential, and composting is seen as an interesting alternative to reduce this potential. Ten studies were evaluated out on the composting of swine manure, as well as its effect on the reduction of pollutants such as phosphorus and nitrogen. It was concluded that composting presented favorable results regarding the aggregation of phosphorus and nitrogen to the final compound, reducing its availability in the environment and generating co-product of commercial interest.

Foram levantados dez trabalhos sobre a compostagem de dejeto suíno, bem como seu efeito na diminuição de compostos poluidores como fósforo e nitrogênio.
