Resumo: This survey attempted to find out whether or not the management styles adopted by schools can be associated with teacher stress. The study considered 175 teachers working with 1st‑to 4th grades in twelve public schools. The instruments first identified the leadership style predominant in the schools, then sought to identify the presence of stress in the teachers. Although stress was present in the majority of the teachers, an association with specific management styles could not be confirmed. This can be linked to the fact that the stress was already present in the teachers and did not allow the identification of additional influence by the schools’ leadership style

Participaron 175 profesoras en 12 escuelas provinciales de 1ª a 4ª serie de la educación primaria. Los instrumentos de la investigación que fueron utilizados, buscaron identificar el estilo predominante de liderazgo en las escuelas y evaluar la presencia de stress en las participantes. Aunque se ha detectado stress en la mayoría de las profesoras, la asocia‑ ción no se ha confirmado. Esto puede estar relacionado con el hecho de que el stress ya existía anteriormente, no permitiendo detectar en ello la influencia adicional del estilo de liderazgo de las escuelas.Esta pesquisa buscou identificar se o estilo de liderança nas escolas tem associação com a presença do stress nos professores que nelas atuam. Participaram dela 175 professoras alocadas em 12 escolas estaduais de 1ª a 4ª série do ensino fundamental. Os instrumentos de pesquisa utilizados procuraram identificar o estilo de liderança predominante nas escolas e avaliar a presença do stress nas participantes. Embora fosse detectado o stress na maioria delas, a associação referida não se confir‑ mou.
