Resumo: Various researches have been developed utilizing Ni, Cu, and α-Al2O3 as support for biohydrogen production purpose due to its high efficiency of conversion of ethanol and its low cost. Results of an theoretical and experimental study concerning steam reforming of ethanol utilizing both materials were presented. Due to the acid effect of Al2O3, the process contributed to dehydration process of ethanol, thus producing ethylene and water. This fact could be diminished introducing potassium in the composition of the catalyst. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 42nd Loss Prevention Symposium (New Orleans, LA 4/6-10/2008).
