Mãos Solidárias is a group of women who meet weekly for the accomplishment of manual works like sewing, embroidery, crochet, painting, among others. The articles produced by them are sold and the income obtained is donated to charities. The present thesis investigates the context of socialization and work of the group volunteers, in light of the analysis of Dasein proposed by Martin Heidegger in his work Being and Time. The investigation of the theme receives contributions from several knowledge fields, seeking the interfaces between education and history of culture. The concepts of being-in-the-world, being-with and being-themselves guide the inquiry, leading to an understanding of Dasein's possibilities as openness, veiling, and unveiling. The way of approaching the theme is the phenomenology which, in Heidegger, finds its most radical sense in the hermeneutics of facticity. Gender issues pass through reflection on the ontic and ontological precedence of the question-of-being. As a being launched into the world, Dasein can decay into impropriety, but can also found its own self. Our central proposition identifies the Solidarity Hands group as a favorable space to the opening of being and to the unveiling of the self of the women who gather there. While working in community, operating the transformation of material objects, the volunteers transform themselves and appropriate a more authentic way of being.
