Summary: The indiscriminate use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) has becoming part of young and practitioners of physical activities’ daily life, especially at gyms and other places where people practice some exercise. First, It had only male users. It also has reached a female audience. Some unwanted collateral effects in adult women are result from the AAS using, however, the physiological effects caused by the indiscriminate use of AAS by female adolescents in the puberty beginning are still unknown, and there’s no study about the permanency of possible effects on the reproductive life. Thus, this study analyzed the stanozolol effect in prepubertal female rats on fertility using the following parameters: estrous cyclicity, vaginal opening, sex hormones and their receptors, implantation sites number, ovarian and placental histology, besides the weight and angiogenesis and these organs. 20 female albino rats were used, and they were submitted to the following treatments: Control group - prepubertal female rats sesame oil treated and Stanozolol group - prepubertal female rats stanozolol treated, the stanozolol was used in an only subcutaneous injection 5mg/Kg with sesame oil 1mL/kg as vehicle, in the twenty-first day after birth. Results showed that even used in low quantities and only once stanozolol promoted an earlier vaginal opening, significant increase in the proestrus and estrus frequency and decline in the metestrous and diestrus, an estrogenic levels increase and reduction of progestagen levels, expression decrease from estrogen alpha receptor in the ovaries, reduction of implantation sites, ovarian and placental weight increase, besides the ovarian and placental VEGF higher expression. Therefore, the study concluded that the prepubertal stanozolol using acts as an endocrine disruptor on rats reproduction.

Therefore, the study concluded that the prepubertal stanozolol using acts as an endocrine disruptor on rats reproduction.O uso indiscriminado de esteróides anabolizantes androgênicos (EAA) vem fazendo parte da rotina de jovens e praticantes de atividade física, principalmente em academias ou centro de práticas esportivas. Submitted by (lucia.rodrigues@ufrpe.br) on 2016-06-09T11:30:06Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Laise de Souza Elias.pdf: 816284 bytes, checksum: 5cfeb66cf7be781496cd7de48b41b8e1 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-09T11:30:06Z (GMT).
