Resumo: This essay focuses the cyberpunk literary movement. It proposes a reflection on how the authors of this subgenre of science fiction treated aesthetically the expectations of social transformations in the face of the emergence of new communication technologies in the 1980s. It seeks to identify how the movement felt and represented social issues and tensions in relation to a future increasingly marked by a technological imperative and by contemporary capitalism. This approach starts contextualizing the object, to analyze the transformations of paradigms that occurred throughout the existence of the literary movement until its saturation and its unfolding in the so-called post-cyberpunk literature.

Busca-se identificar como o movimento sentiu e representou as questões e tensões sociais em relação a um futuro cada vez mais marcado por um imperativo tecnológico e pelo capitalismo contemporâneo.
