Resumo: This paper presents the proposal for Matrix Support and Reference Teams as a resource to organize primary health care, with the purpose of reducing health care fragmentation, consolidating clinical responsibility, valuing interdisciplinary care, and contributing to regulate health care networks. These arrangements aim to build, in the managerial scope, a democratic organizational culture, and in the epistemological perspective, knowledge handling that is committed to cases singularity and that enables a dynamic balance between the knowledge of the different professionals of a team or of a health care network. The experience of the Family Health Support Teams and the pioneer experience of the city of Campinas, state of São Paulo, in Matrix Support are discussed.

Este artigo apresenta a proposta de apoio matricial e equipe de referência como recurso para a organização do trabalho em saúde na Atenção Primária, objetivando limitar a fragmentação da atenção, consolidar a responsabilização clínica, valorizar o cuidado interdisciplinar e contribuir para a regulação das redes assistenciais. Esses arranjos objetivam construir, no âmbito gerencial, uma cultura organizacional democrática, e no plano epistemológico um manejo do conhecimento que valorize a singularidade dos casos e possibilite um equilíbrio dinâmico entre os saberes dos vários profissionais de uma equipe ou de uma rede assistencial. Discutem-se a experiência dos Núcleos de Apoio à Saúde da Família e a experiência pioneira de Campinas-SP, Brasil, em Apoio Matricial. Universidade de São Paulo.
