Evaluation of the health promotion behavior in patients with diabetes mellitus

Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the health promotion behavior of diabetic patients in agreement with the indicators of the Nursing Outcome Classification (NOC). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed with 84 diabetic patients followed in a Basic Health Unit, using the NOC scale for health promotion behavior. RESULTS: Among the appraised indicators, the use of social support for health promotion and the development of health behaviors presented median < 2. The health promotion behavior presented median = 3. CONCLUSION: Diabetic patients present limitations to the practice of health promotion behavior.
