Resumo: OBJECTIVE: Classify, under the ICF perspective, the practitioners of aquatic exercises with some type of chronic non-transmissible disease (CNTD) and with fibromyalgia of a Health Unit in Curitiba / PR.METHODS: It has a cross-sectional design and a qualitative and quantitative design, with a sample of 35 subjects, from whom 20 are hydrogymnastics practitioners (DCNTs Group) and 15 aquatic therapy practitioners (fibromyalgia). The following variables were analyzed, with their respective assessment instruments: quality of life (World Health Organization Quality of Life – WHOQOL-bref and WHOQOL-old); functional mobility (timed up and go-TUG); and for walking speed (MV) (10-meter walk test). After verifying the normality of the data (Shapiro-Wilk test) Pearson's correlation and the F test were performed to verify the variance between the groups. To calculate the significant difference between the means, the t test was used for two independent samples (p≤0.05).RESULTS: There was a significant difference between the groups in the variables of the TUG, of the VM, in the items of the self-assessment, environment and in the average of the domains of quality of life.CONCLUSIONS: The BPS model allows an integral view of the subjects by taking into account its functionality associated with the contextual factors that evolve from it, both related to their physical and personal factors, as well as the environmental factors of the health care centre and the city.
