Perception of quality of life in hemiparetics patients post stroke in a balance group in aquatic environment

Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the perception of the quality of life of post-stroke hemiparetic patients submitted to a group balancing protocol in the aquatic environment.METHODS: Five hemiparetic patients after stroke were submitted to a group balance protocol in the aquatic environment, in 24 sessions, performed twice a week, for 1 hour. They were evaluated before and immediately after the protocol using Berg Balance Scale (BSE), Timed Up and Go (TUG) and Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale (SS-qol). The pre and post treatment variables were analyzed by Student's t-test for paired samples, with significance of p<0.05.RESULTS: There was an improvement in mobility and safety assessed by TUG (p<0.01) and improvement in the perception of quality of life assessed by EQVE-AVE (p<0.05) in all subjects in the post treatment period.CONCLUSIONS: There was an improvement in the quality of life perception of hemiparetic subjects after stroke, related to the influence of the group balance protocol in the aquatic environment.

A amostra foi avaliada antes e imediatamente após o protocolo utilizando a Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg (EEB), o teste Timed Up and Go (TUG) e a Escala de Qualidade de Vida Específica para Acidente Vascular Encefálico (EQVE-AVE).
