Resumo: This paper aims to confirm the dynamic characteristic of the lexicon, whichcontents expand constantly and indefinitely and, also that the media, besides being a largeadviser of neologisms, explores the fact that the lexicon is open. For this, it is intended,through a set of neologisms collected in the press covering the Brazilian political context, toshow how the Brazilian press uses the possibility of expanding the lexicon, and how the pressexplores the inaccurate limits of the lexicon to give greater expression to its texts, producing,not rare, effects of a sense of irony and / or humor.
