Study about communication on three non-governmental organizations of Curitiba-PR which were originated in social movements, founded in the decades of 1970, 1980 and 1990. The objective of this search was to find techniques of communication used to connect with their public and the role work of the communicator in such organizations. The methodology used was the study of multiple cases, which included as techniques of data search: the documentary and literature research, and interviews with leaders, founders and communicators of the studied organizations. The concepts of popular and alternative communication were used as theoretical basis at the analyses performed. Among the results, it was found, tentatively, there is a breakthrough for the use of professional communication techniques and the seeking for a professional who possesses the technical training, and most importantly, prior to that, this professional is engaged, committed with the causes of organization.(AU)
