Morphological study on Gnathossome of Anocenter nitens (Neumann, 1877) Schulze, 1937 adults

Resumo: One hundred and three females and one hundred and thirteen males of Anocentor nitens were removed from ears of horses at the Rural University and all gnathossomes were kept under laboratorial conditions according to FLECHTMANN (1985). Morphological observation was undertaken aiming at the study of the hypostome, cheliceral digits and cheliceral sheaths, the relation between palpi segments and chaetotaxy, prosomal region and porose area. Analysis showed that characters or attributes of A. nitens are sex related. Sexual dimorphism was confirmed through the relation between the size of hypostome/palpi, the morphology of cheliceral digits and the presence of prosomal fovea only in female ticks. The other morphological characters were useful to validate A. nitens.

The other morphological characters were useful to validate A. nitens.   Foi realizado um estudo morfológico do gnathossoma de Anocentor nitens (NEUMANN, 1877} SCHULZE, 1937 em amostra de 113 machos e 103 fêmeas. Os gnathossomas foram separados do idiossoma e montados entre lâmina e lamínunula para melhor observação de suas peças componentes, que foram analisadas numérica e comparativamente. O hipostômio apresentou quatro fileiras de dentes a cada lado para ambos os sexos; nos machos o numero de dentes por fileira variou de 8 a 12 e nas fêmeas de 10 a 20 dentes. A bainha da quelícera dos machos apresentou 30/35 como relação entre número de fileira de dentes e o número de dentes por fileira; nas fêmeas essa relação foi de 33/55. Todas as análises contribuíram para validar a espécie, e em alguns pontos para discordar do que havia sido citado para A. nitens. Neste trabalho propõe-se terminologia detalhada da quetotaxia dos palpos.
