As for socio-environmental responsibility, HORTIVIDA fulfills its role as OCS by following the normative recommendations for organic production; for its participation in the agricultural segment, the cultivation and commercialization of agroecological foods meets the local demand and the families livelihood of the associates and employees they hire; establishing a relationship of trust and respect with their consumers; for implementing environmental sustainability in productive areas based on the ecological balance inherent in the cultivation practices themselves; for promoting a healthy and quality life for members and society in general and for making organic agriculture not only a source of income, but also a lifestyle. Although public incentive policies for organic production still lacks and some barriers need to be overcome, it’s a niche with a strong possibility of development, especially in small rural properties.
