Resumo: | Private ownership of concentrated land is intrinsically associated with political and economic power throughout Brazil's history, especially in more recent times. Therefore, this work aims to analyze politicians elected in the general elections of 2014, inthe case of part of the Senate seats, and of 2018, belonging or not to therural landowners members of the Congress (the "bancada ruralista"), but with close relations and actions with capitalist agriculture, based on capitalist property of the land. The objective is also to map the locations of properties that belongs to politicians and to analyze their distribution throughout Brazil. The "bancada ruralista" is considered one of the strongest in the Brazilian Congress, supporting capitalist agriculture and interconnected sectors (agribusiness), composed of politicians from all regions of the country, that acts around agendas that are favorableto their demands. To support the analysis, we sought after assets declarations made by elected politicians to the Superior Electoral Court ("TSE") and informationon parliamentarians' landownership from the Land Management System ("SIGEF"), of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform ("INCRA"). The "INCRA"land structure data were used to demonstrate the violence of land concentration in Brazil and its maintenance over the years. |
