O artigo busca estudar as articulações do governo republicano instalado em Pernambuco em 1817 com o governo norte-americano, através de seus emissários, entre eles, Antônio Gonçalves da Cruz, o Cabugá, que não mediu esforços para assinar acordos importantes em benefício da jovem república instalada no Norte do Brasil. The article seeks to study the joints of republican government installed in Pernambuco in 1817 with the US government, through his emissaries, among them Antonio Gonçalves da Cruz (Cabugá), who spared no efforts to sign important agreements for the benefit of the young republic installed in Northern Brazil.
