A forma como os museus vêm assumindo papéis educativos tem crescido cada vez mais. A busca pela qualificação das visitas e atividades extra visitação já fazem parte do contexto destas instituições, tornando-se espaços onde se pode dinamizar e complementar os conteúdos abordados nas escolas. Este trabalho objetivou compreender as expectativas dos professores da Educação Básica a respeito do Museu de História Natural do Sul do Estado do Espírito Santo (MUSES) como espaço não formal de ensino. Como instrumento de pesquisa foi utilizado questionário composto de questões fechadas e abertas. A análise revelou que a maioria destes professores ainda não visitou o MUSES e a falta de transporte é um de seus maiores obstáculos. Foi possível diagnosticar as necessidades dos professores quanto à visitação e pôde-se constatar que o maior interesse está na adaptação da monitoria ao conteúdo curricular, adequando a linguagem de modo a relacionar os ensinamentos do museu com o que seus alunos veem na escola. Os resultados possibilitaram a comprovação de que o MUSES tem a preocupação de atender a essas expectativas, porém, dentro de suas limitações. Essa pesquisa se torna uma ferramenta útil para possíveis contribuições no aprimoramento técnico das atividades do MUSES, colaborando para aumentar sua eficiência sendo também um instrumento para o fortalecimento da comunicação entre os profissionais da área escolar com a equipe do MUSES.Palavras-chave: Divulgação científica. Museologia. Escolas. Docentes. Espaços não formais.ABSTRACTThe way museums have been taking on educational roles has grown more and more. The search for the qualification of the visits and activities extra visitation is already part of the context of these institutions, becoming spaces where it is possible to dynamize and complement the contents approached in the schools. This work aimed to understand the expectations of teachers of Basic Education regarding the Museum of Natural History of the South of the State of Espírito Santo (MUSES) as a non-formal teaching space. As a research instrument, a questionnaire composed of closed and open questions was used. The analysis revealed that most of these teachers have not yet visited the MUSES and the lack of transportation is one of their biggest obstacles. It was possible to diagnose the teachers’ needs regarding the visitation and it was verified that the main interest is in adapting the monitoring to the curricular content, adapting the language in order to relate the teachings of the museum with what their students see in the school. The results made it possible to prove that MUSES has the concern of meeting these expectations, but within its limitations. This research becomes a useful tool for possible contributions in the technical improvement of the MUSES activities, collaborating to increase its efficiency and is also an instrument for the strengthening of the communication between the professionals of the school area and the MUSES team.Keywords: Scientific spreading.
