The Nurse´s perception regarding humanized care in the ICU: Literature Review

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is the place where highly complex technologies are found, in addition to being made up of a multidisciplinary team specialized in caring for patients who have a serious health condition, but who have a chance of surviving. Nursing care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is provided comprehensively to patients. This work aims to analyze the Nurse's perception regarding humanized care in the ICU. This is an integrative review of the literature, of a bibliographic nature, based on scientific articles published between 2018 and 2022 on humanized care in Intensive Care Units and on nursing care in the humanization process available electronically, in full text. , in the aforementioned databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences – LILACS; Scientific Electronic Libraly online – SciELO and Virtual Health Library – VHL. In view of the articles reviewed, it is clear that humanized care is still a challenge in ICUs, therefore, nurses recognize that humanization should not just be a concept, but a practice based on valuing the patient and uniqueness. Social and emotional support is essential to intensify the humanizing practice among facilitating agents and reduce limiting agents.
