Resumo: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Surveillance was instituted in 2009 due to pandemic influenza A(H1N1) pdm09. Since then, it has been the strategy for monitoring the circulation of respiratory viruses in the country. With the Coronavirus pandemic (SARS-CoV-2) in 2020, hospitalized cases were incorporated into the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System (SIVEP-Gripe). This article analyzes the epidemiological profile of cases and deaths by SRAG positive for Covid-19 in the state of Bahia, from January to October 2020. It is a descriptive study of transversal design, having as data sources the SIVEP-Gripe. The population under study are the cases and deaths of SRAG positive for Covid-19. The data were tabulated using the TabWin program and analyzed in Excel 2016. The number of cases reported for SRAG was 30,865, of which 17,092 were positive for Covid-19, and of these 6,813 died. The results show that the magnitude of the infection by Sars-CoV-2 made it essential to expand health strategies to prevent illness and aggravation of cases to prevent the increase of deaths.
