Education for citizenship in high school and Project-Based Learning: building a proposal

Resumo: The National Curricular Common Base guides teaching at all stages of basic education and uses the citizenship ideas as a structuring base of its proposal through the concept of competences. The objective of this article is to analyze how the demand for building citizenship in schools is presented in the official documents that support the Brazilian basic education curriculum and to propose a methodology for its realization using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The article was divided in three parts: I) analysis of the documents that guide Brazilian basic education, aiming to identify the proposals regarding citizenship formation; II) bibliography review about the PBL; and III) proposition of a methodology for the use of PBL for the development of citizenship education. It was observed that the PBL might be an adequate methodology for the citizenship development in the classroom, and it is expected that the didactic sequence might help teachers to work on this subject.

El objetivo del artículo fue analizar cómo se presenta la demanda de construcción de ciudadanía en las escuelas en los documentos oficiales que sustentan el currículo de educación básica brasileño y proponer una metodología para su realización utilizando el Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos (ABP). El artículo se dividió en tres partes: 1) análisis de documentos que orientan la educación básica, buscando identificar propuestas referentes a la formación ciudadana; 2) revisión de la literatura sobre PBL; y 3) propuesta de una metodología para el uso del ABP en el desarrollo de la formación ciudadana. Se observó que el PBL puede ser adecuado para trabajar la ciudadanía en el aula y se espera que la secuencia didáctica pueda ayudar a los docentes a trabajar este tema.A Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC) orienta o ensino em todas as etapas da educação básica e utiliza a ideia de cidadania como estruturante de sua proposta por meio do conceito de competências. O objetivo do artigo foi analisar como a demanda de construção da cidadania nas escolas é apresentada nos documentos oficiais que embasam o currículo do ensino básico brasileiro e propor uma metodologia para sua realização utilizando a Aprendizagem Baseada em Projetos (ABP).
