Resumo: This work concentrates on the education of information professionals, pinpointingthe interaction between teaching and research, and aiming at a more qualified and humanized education. The research project, titled:”Reading Practices inPublic Schools in The Ceará Complex”, included the participation of the Department of Information Science students. Through the investigation, theproblems existing within today’s trend of reading politics and school librarieswere discussed, besides the deficiencies observed in primary and secondary education, related to reading practices. The research’s approach is based on the theories of Vigotsky and Bakhtin, the social-interactionalists researchers, as well as, on the reception and literacy aesthetics. The project results demonstrate the interaction success between the undergraduate students and teachers of the schools under study. This sanctions the assertion that, among the alternativesproposed by the Associação Brasileira de Educação em Ciência da Informação to improve the quality of undergraduate studies, the duality education/researchis one of the best. However, the results also indicate the following needs: to improve awareness and sensibility towards new reading practices, adequate training of human resources for multimedia centers, and the presence of aprofessional librarian in such centers.

Com este objetivo elaborou-se o projeto de pesquisa intitulado: “Práticas Leitoras nas Escolas Públicas do Conjunto Ceará”, contando-se com a participação de alunos do Departamento de Ciências da Informação. Através da investigação, discute-se a problemática existente no âmbito das políticas de leitura em voga e da biblioteca escolar, além de fazer-se uma reflexão sobre as deficiências observadas no Ensino Fundamental e Médio relativas às práticas leitoras. Os aportes teóricos derivam de Vigotsky e Bakhtin, estudiosos sócio-interacionistas, bem como da estética da recepção e do letramento. Os resultados do trabalho apontam o êxito da interação aluno de graduação/professores nas escolas sob estudo, e permitem afirmar que, dentre as alternativas propostas pela Associação Brasileira de Educação em Ciência da Informação, é a dualidade ensino/pesquisa uma das mais adequadas para a melhor qualificação da graduação.
