Cities and childhoods: the child goes to the museum

Resumo: The paper examines the mediation of expositive spaces in the formation of the child in the city. It problematizes the structure of these spaces with orientation towards the adult audience. It is based on the Vigotsky concept of semiotic mediation and establishes a dialogue with authors such as Agamben, Canevacci, Santos, among others, to determine the childhoods in the territorialities of the city. Two surveys mention the present paper and they were developed, in collaboration. The question that guides it is thus defined: how do museums welcome children and what senses do they give to museums when they visit them? In both cases analyzed, the children were conducted in groups for guided tours to exhibition spaces in the city of Vitória. The tours were planned with the children and recorded in photographs and videos, which were later analyzed. The results allow us to perceive that the places visited did not expect children. On the other hand, children assign new senses to the expositive spaces, resizing them from their interests.

Cuestiona la estructura de eses espacios orientados al público adulto. Se basea en el concepto vigotskiano de mediación semiótica y establece diálogo con autores como Agamben, Canevacci, Santos, entre otros, para dimensionar las infancias en las territorialidades de la ciudad, particularmente en museos. Dos investigaciones sustentan el presente artículo y fueron desarrolladas, en colaboración. La pregunta que lo orienta es definida así: ¿cómo los museos acogen a los niños y qué sentidos ellos les atribuyen cuando los visitan? En los dos casos analizados, los niños fueron llevados en grupos para visitas guiadas a lugares de exhibición en la ciudad de Vitória. Las visitas fueron planeadas con los niños y registradas en fotografías y vídeos, que fueron posteriormente analizadas. Los resultados permiten percibir que los espacios visitados no esperaban niños. Por otro lado, los niños atribuyen nuevos sentidos a los lugares de exhibición, redimensionándolos a partir de sus intereses.O artigo discute a mediação de espaços expositivos na formação da criança na cidade. Problematiza a estrutura desses espaços com orientação voltada ao público adulto. Fundamenta-se no conceito vigotskiano de mediação semiótica e estabelece diálogo com autores como Agamben, Canevacci, Santos, entre outros, para dimensionar as infâncias nas territorialidades da cidade. Duas pesquisas referenciam o presente artigo e foram desenvolvidas em colaboração. A questão que o orienta é assim definida: como museus acolhem crianças e que sentidos elas lhes conferem quando os visitam? Nos dois casos analisados, as crianças foram conduzidas em grupos para visitas guiadas a espaços expositivos na cidade de Vitória. As visitas foram planejadas com as crianças e registradas em fotografias e vídeos, que foram posteriormente analisados. Os resultados permitem perceber que os espaços visitados não aguardavam crianças.
