We know the importance of the textbook in Brazilian education, since it is an instrument made available in a democratic and free way to students of public schools. However, even though it is an important tool, in order to reach the classroom it is necessary to understand that there are process of analysis and choices that begin with the Ministry of Education (MEC), that joined with the National Textbook Program (PNLD) avalue if the collections presented by several authors are in agreement with what is determined by the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN). Then the approved collections go to the schools so that the teachers select the one that is in accordance with the reality of the school. By doing this, the choice is made through evaluations that take into account the guiding principles of Portuguese language classes, such as reading, text production, orality and linguistic knowledge.
