Resumo: In general, distance education can be defined as a model in which teacher and student are separated by spaces and sometimes temporally, and the interaction between them occurs indirectly, mediated by the use of some technology. It is an education that develops in cyberculture, constituted as "set of techniques (material and intellectual), practices, coding, ie, attitudes, modes of thought and values," that goes beyond the use of internet and explores its possibilities multidirectional communication, and culture of the new generations. In each generation is marked by a kind of technology and media, we have: 1st generation (correspondence), 2nd generation (transmission by radio and TV), 3rd generation (Open University), 4th generation (teleconference) and 5th generation (internet / web). Importantly, these generations coexist today and the choice of media depends on the objectives established in the pedagogical project, as well as the characteristics of the target audience that the course is intended

Trata-se de uma educação que se desenvolve na cibercultura, constituída como “conjunto de técnicas (materiais e intelectuais), de práticas, codificação, isto é, de atitudes, de modos de pensamento e de valores”, que vai além do uso da internet e explora suas possibilidades de comunicação multidirecional, e na cultura das novas gerações. A cada uma das gerações é marcada por um tipo de tecnologia e mídia, temos: 1ª geração (correspondência); 2ª geração (transmissão por rádio e TV); 3ª geração (universidades abertas); 4ª geração (teleconferência); e 5ª geração (internet/web).
