Resumo: This study evaluated depressive and anxiety symptoms in elderly and its association with sex, age, functional capacity and the perception of social support. Participated 134 elderly people without cognitive impairment. There was a significant association between depression and anxiety with dependence in basic and instrumental activities of daily living and anxiety with low social involvement and low perception of social support. Public attention is importantto foster diagnosis and treatment of these clinical conditions.

Participando 134 de las personas sin la cognición de la corporación. La diferencia entre la depresión y la ansiedad con la dependencia en las actividades básicas e instrumentales de la vida diaria y la convivencia social. La atención al público es importante para el diagnóstico y el tratamiento de estas condiciones clínicas.Este estudo avaliou sintomas depressivos e de ansiedade em idosos, e sua associação com o sexo, a faixa etária, a capacidade funcional e a percepção de suporte social. Participaram do estudo 134 idosos sem déficit cognitivo. Houve associação significativa entre depressão e ansiedade, com dependência nas atividades básicas e instrumentais de vida diária, e da ansiedade, com baixo envolvimento social, e com baixa percepção de suporte social.
