Social Representations about Quarantine built by Elderly Brazilian Women

Resumo: The objective was to identify the Social Representations (RS) about quarantine among Brazilian elderly women. 69 elderly women, aged between 60 and 87 years, participated in the study. Sociodemographic questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and the technique of free word association were used. The data on the SR were processed by the IRaMuTeQ software. Distinctions were found in the quarantine SR according to the income of the elderly. It is concluded that social inequalities can imply the social isolation of elderly women.

Participaron 69 mujeres mayores, de entre 60 y 87 años. Se utilizaron cuestionarios sociodemográficos, entrevistas semiestructuradas y la técnica de asociación libre de palabras. Los datos de las RS fueron procesados por el software IRaMuTeQ. Se encontraron distinciones en las RS de cuarentena según los ingresos de las mujeres mayores. Se concluye que las desigualdades sociales pueden implicar el aislamiento social de las mujeres mayores. Objetivou-se identificar as Representações Sociais (RS) sobre a quarentena entre idosas brasileiras. Participaram do estudo 69 idosas, com idades entre 60 e 87 anos. Utilizaram-se questionários sociodemográficos, entrevistas semiestruturadas e a técnica de associação livre de palavras. Os dados sobre as RS foram processados pelo software IRaMuTeQ. Verificaram-se distinções nas RS de quarentena, de acordo com a renda das idosas.
