A internet tem sido usada cotidianamente pelas pessoas para interagir com outros indiv?duos. Assim, ? importante entender de que forma propicia, ou n?o, o desenvolvimento e a manuten??o de relacionamentos interpessoais. Nessa perspectiva, esta revis?o narrativa cr?tica da literatura buscou descrever as tend?ncias mais comuns das investiga??es sobre esse tema entre 2011 e 2020, bem como destacar as suas principais contribui??es. Para tanto, as bases de dados SciELO, LILACS e Web of Science foram consultadas, resultando na sele??o de 25 artigos. Dentre os principais achados, destaca-se a contribui??o da internet para o in?cio e manuten??o de rela??es interpessoais. Verificou-se tamb?m uma tend?ncia de compara??o entre relacionamentos online e offline, embora diversos estudos tenham salientado o quanto a internet tornou-se uma extens?o do mundo offline, auxiliando na manuten??o de relacionamentos pr?-existentes e possibilitando o estabelecimento de novas rela??es, que passam a constituir a rede de apoio dos indiv?duos. Investiga??es futuras mostram-se necess?rias sobre as repercuss?es negativas do uso da internet, que muitas vezes ocasionam o rompimento de relacionamentos. / The internet has been used daily by people to interact with other individuals. Thus, it is important to understand how it enables, or not, the development and maintenance of interpersonal relationships. In this perspective, this study consisted in a critical narrative review of the literature and sought to describe the most common trends of research on this topic between 2011 and 2020, as well as to highlight the main research contributions. To achieve this, SciELO, LILACS and Web of Science databases were consulted, resulting in the selection of 25 articles. Among the main findings, the contribution of the internet to the initiation and maintenance of interpersonal relationships stands out. A tendency for comparison between online and offline relationships was also observed, although several studies highlighted the fact that the internet has become an extension of the offline world, helping to maintain pre-existing relationships and enabling the establishment of new ones, which can become part of the individual?s social support network. Future investigations are needed on the negative repercussions of internet use, which often lead to the breakup of interpersonal relationships.
