Resumo: | The Centaur is a chimeric being, which at first sight might cause some dismay and dis-gust. It is the result of a punishment, before the insolence (Hybris) of a mere mortal, Ixion, in relation to the goddess Hera, and ultimately, the King of the Gods, Zeus. The ancient texts that have come down to us today, by authors such as Homer, Ovid and Hesiod tell us stories about the origin of the universe, gods, humans, monstrous creatures, heroes and phenomena outside the scope of rational and scientific understanding of man. In this context arise accounts of savage centaurs and their bloody battles, as well as the centaur Chiron, teacher and healer, who was immortalized as the constellation Sagittarius, zodiac sign, emblem of educational institutions, companies, products and character of the cinema , modern literature, painting and sculpture. The mythological being has the characteristics of the horse, a mammal of the order of ungulates, and the human being, of the order of a bipedal primate animal, thus creating a major challenge for its hypothetical construct. Its construction is always encircled in the field of hypothesis, since there are no reports of this being, in medical, veterinary and human literature, giving an account of the mix-ture resulting from the features of both species, in the formulation of this being that doesn’t involve the collapse of the his central nervous system, lymphatic, cardiovascular and respiratory organs. There are obvious difficulties of maintaining and running a living being, with a greater multiplicity of the usual internal organs, creating this way a real physiological utopia. The proposal for this dissertation focused on the construction of an harmonious and bal-anced axial and Appendicular skeleton, which in turn would support a set of muscles, tendons and joints that could facilitate an unguligrate locomotion |
