School civic parades during the Getúlio Vargas´s New State Period: an interpretation from photographs

Resumo: Based on photographic sources of a school parade during Getúlio Vargas´s New State period, current historiographic essay shows how, within a specific historical place and time, the photographic records identify the relationships between civic school parades and the primary school and the period´s political ideology and environment. The article is divided into two parts. The first part provides brief considerations on the nature of the photographic image as evidence for historians and defines the manner it will be examined. The second part deals with the analysis and interpretation of photographs of the parade involving students of the Elementary School Dr. Manoel Pedro in the town of Lapa, Paraná State, Brazil, in 1941.

The second part deals with the analysis and interpretation of photographs of the parade involving students of the Elementary School Dr. Manoel Pedro in the town of Lapa, Paraná State, Brazil, in 1941. Basándose por fuentes fotográficas de un desfile escolar realizado en pleno período del Estado Nuevo, el objetivo de este artículo, de carácter historiográfico, es señalar cómo en determinado lugar y tiempo histórico, los registros fotográficos permiten identificar la relación de los desfiles cívico-escolares y de la propia escuela primaria con el ambiente e ideología política de la época. El artículo está dividido en dos partes. En la primera, son producidas breves consideraciones sobre la naturaleza de la imagen fotográfica como evidencia para el trabajo del historiador, demarcando el modo como será aquí interrogada. Enseguida, se procede al análisis e interpretación de las fotografías del desfile en que participaron alumnos del Grupo Escolar Dr. Manoel Pedro, en la ciudad de la Lapa, Estado de Paraná, en el año de 1941.Tomando por fontes fotográficas de um desfile escolar realizado em pleno período do Estado Novo, o objetivo deste artigo, de cunho historiográfico, é apontar como em determinado lugar e tempo histórico, os registros fotográficos permitem identificar a relação dos desfiles cívico-escolares e da própria escola primária com o ambiente e ideologia política da época. O artigo está dividido em duas partes. Na primeira, são tecidas breves considerações sobre a natureza da imagem fotográfica enquanto evidência para o trabalho do historiador, demarcando o modo como será aqui interrogada.
