Palavras-chave: Liberdade de imprensa, jornalismo proletário, comunismo Abstract This article intends to argue, even though on preliminary basis, the idea of press freedom in the thought of Karl Marx, Wladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. We believe that the political praxis of these social actors was conditioned by the existence of free speech as a reflex of the political organization. On another hand, not always was press freedom actually given by governments to oppositionists; in order to achieve it, the previously mentioned actors believed that press freedom was an alienable right of citizens.
