Resumo: | This descriptive-exploratory research aimed to identify and describe the physical and financial production of the main procedures, in medical clinics, in processed hospitalizations paid by the Ribeirão Preto Municipal Health Secretariat. Data collection used documental research in official databases of five hospitals associated to the Unified Health System, between 1996 and 2003. The physical production of procedures in the following subspecialties increased: cardiovascular system diseases, respiratory problems and digestive system diseases. The subspecialties neurological and respiratory problems as well as cardiovascular system diseases consumed most of the financial resources. Specialization of hospitals in some subspecialties was evidenced. Although the study does not present estimates for the following years, the increase in the physical and financial production of clinical medicine procedures, in the city studied, justifies a critical analysis made by managers of the local health system. |
