Resumo: | This book review is related to “The rites of passage” from the authorship of Arnold Van Gennep. The author was the first to point out the existence of constitutive aspects of the turning point in the change of social status of the individual. The importance to analyze ceremonies, rites, spectacles, which are concerned to fundamental events in some social group pertaining process, is discussed. Using a socioanthropological reflection, this classic book demonstrates that the notion of collective identity is linked to how others recognize the individual. This text stimulates to think in sociocultural aspects which permeates Physical Education academic field. |

En su objeto de estudio, el autor, de forma pionera, presenta la existencia de aspectos que constituyen el momento de transición del individuo a un cambio de su estatuto social. Se discute la importancia del análisis acerca de ceremonias, ritos, espectáculos, caracterizada por eventos fundamentales en el proceso de pertenecimiento a un determinado grupo social. El libro presenta que la noción de identidad colectiva puede ser traducida por el (o no) reconocimiento del individuo ante el ámbito académico de la Educación Física.A presente resenha se refere ao livro “Os ritos de passagem” de Arnold Van Gennep. O autor tornou objeto de estudo, de forma pioneira, a existência de aspectos constitutivos do momento de transição do indivíduo a uma mudança no seu estatuto social. Discute-se a importância das análises acerca de cerimônias, ritos, espetáculos, que se caracterizam por eventos fundamentais no processo de pertencimento a determinado grupo social. A noção de identidade coletiva pode ser traduzida pelo (não) reconhecimento do indivíduo perante aos outros.
