Contribuição da indústria florestal no desenvolvimento da economia brasileira: uma abordagem da matriz de insumo-produto

Resumo: This article shows the importance of the forest sector in relation to other sectors of the Brazilian economy. By aggregation of input-output matrix of 1990 from IBGE, a promotion policy of Brazilian export was simulated with objective of improving the trade balance and to verify the impacts on the sectorial and total production, importation and labor hiring. The inter-industry linkage was also obtained aiming at identifying the key-sectors of the economy. The results indicated that forest industry, mainly Pulp and Paper, Wood and Furniture, and Siderurgy, showed the larger increases on total production, larger taxes on jobs, lower imports and larger backward linkages, while others sectors like Chemical and Machines and Equipments showed lower production, labor hiring and the large increase on the imports. The importance of the forest sector on Brazilian economy was outs standing.

A partir da agregação da matriz insumo-produto de 1990, do IBGE, simulou-se uma política de promoção das exportações brasileiras que vise melhorar a balança comercial e verificar os impactos na produção total e setorial, nas importações e na absorção de mão-de-obra. Os índices de efeito também foram obtidos a fim de identificar os setores chaves na economia. Os resultados indicaram que as indústrias florestais, principalmente Siderurgia (carvão Vegetal), Papel e Celulose, Madeira e Mobiliário, apresentaram maiores aumentos na produção, maiores taxas de emprego, menores importações e maiores índice de efeito para trás, enquanto outros setores como Química e Máquinas e Equipamentos apresentaram baixo aumento na produção e maiores aumentos na importação e menor absorção de mão-de-obra.
