Resumo: This article addresses one of the persistent problems faced in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul: contemporary slave labor. Initially, a contextualization of slave labor and its evolution over time in Brazil was carried out, seeking to understand the characteristics of this phenomenon, the circumstances that sustain it, and a more in-depth form of this ongoing challenge, as well as identifying the specific causes that make it so deeply rooted in the MS region. Simultaneously, a thorough analysis of public data related to the rescue of enslaved workers was conducted, investigating its correlation with socioeconomic factors. The aim was to comprehend this phenomenon in the South-Mato-Grossense territory and identify the factors that facilitate the enslavement of workers, providing a solid foundation for the formulation of more comprehensive and effective solutions in combating this problem.

Inicialmente foi realizada uma contextualização do trabalho escravo e sua evolução ao longo do tempo no Brasil, buscando compreender as características desse fenômeno, as circunstâncias que o mantém e forma mais aprofundada desse desafio continuo, bem como identificar as causas específicas que o tornam tão arraigado na região do MS.
